Hi Tom,
I’m not sure what area you are in, but you may want to contact someone locally at a newspaper, blog or magazine. Photographers may be open to assistants or interns and you can work for free or a small fee to get the experience that you need.
Hope this helps!
Jen
When I attended my first Communication Central concfrenee last year, I felt like I had been inducted into a secret society. I learned so much, and it was a pleasure to meet so many of the greats of editing whose books, blog posts, and discussion list messages I had followed so closely over my career. I am thrilled that CC will be returning to Baltimore this year (2012) and I’m looking forward to what’s in store!
That sounds like a great event! It’s good to know that there are other cities that want to help people learn about writing and editing.
Hi thereI would be interested to find out when you think the next wkhosrop will be after September as unfortunately I will be in England at that time. Could you also tell me how much it is? It sounds like a great thing to do!Many thanksJo
Hi Jo,
There are plans for more workshops in the summer of 2013. Please let me know if there are certain workshops that you’d like to see.
Interestingly, your last year’s conference ceoervd every topic that came up today (at a DC freelancers’ meeting). But that’s why the conference content is so relevant the problems we have as editors/writers/freelancers are perennial.
Thanks! I like to share info with up and coming writers. It’s important to have different events to help freelancers and new writers navigate through the industry.
